Health Benefits of Tomato Juice

Tomato juice is the most important vegetable juice in the industry. Tomato juice not only has it a pleasing flavor but it also contains the elements needed to neutralize the acid condition of the body.

A Harvard studies showed that men who eat at least ten servings a week of tomato based foods including tomato juice are up to 45 percent less likely to develop prostate cancer, while men who eat four servings a week show a 20 percent reduction in prostate cancer rates. Tomatoes and tomato juice contain large amounts of lycopene which is a powerful antioxidant.

Lycopene is one antioxidant that has been studied extensively in prevention of cancers of prostate, lung and other organs.

Study in Finland showed that daily intake of 13.5 ounces of tomato juice reduced average of total cholesterol 5.9%. In additional, LDL levels had also dropped by 12.9 percent.

According to study reported in the American Heart Journal, antioxidant lycopene in tomato juice can boost body beverage’s blood-pressure-lowering power. When participants in the study swallowed tomato juice extract for 8 weeks, they experienced a 10-point drop in their systolic BP and a four-point fall in their diastolic measure.

It is better not to drink tomato juice at the same time where starch or sugars are included as these will neutralize its alkaline reaction.
