Cabbage juice for stomach ulcers

Stomach ulcers are characterized by inflations in the stomach which can cause stomach pain and burning sensations in the stomach.

In some cases, stomach ulcers can also result in stomach bleeding.

In 1956 a group of American scientists in California (Cheney, Wasler and Miller) reported that concentrated cabbage juice made from ordinary white cabbage accelerated the healing of gastric ulcers. The team made 3 big treatment experiments in refer to the cabbage juice between the years of 1950 and 1952 and the treatment experiments of Wasler and Miller followed this in 1956.

X-ray studies repeatedly showed a rapid reduction in size of the pit-like lesions in the wall of the stomach, more rapid than with the usual treatment not using cabbage juice.

Drinking cabbage as a traditional remedy for stomach ulcers goes back to the work of Garnet Cheney of Stanford University School of Medicine (Calif Med. 1949 Jan; 70(1): 10–15). He reported to have cured many ulcer patients with raw cabbage juice. The juice contains the antiulcer factor, vitamin U.
